For our client, a multinational European corporation with an established international footprint, we are seeking an experienced and driven Start-up & Operations Engineer to support the start-up and long-term operation of a liquefied gas processing facility in Indonesia. The organization develops and operates advanced energy and process technology solutions and is currently expanding its regional operations through the commissioning of a new production asset.
About the role
This is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced Start-up & Operations professional to support the delivery and long-term operation of a small-scale LNG facility in Indonesia.
The position is designed as a dual-phase assignment. Initially, the role focuses on leading commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities during the final project phase. Upon successful completion, it transitions into a core operational leadership role, responsible for stable plant operations, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.
This role plays a key part in bringing the facility safely into operation and shaping its operational standards, contributing directly to reliable production, operational excellence, and long-term asset performance.
Responsibilities
Start-Up Phase:
- Lead all pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities across process systems, utilities, storage, and supporting infrastructure
- Coordinate functional testing, integrated system commissioning, and readiness for first gas and commercial operation
- Ensure all commissioning and start-up activities fully comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Interface closely with site teams, contractors, equipment suppliers, and technical specialists to resolve punch lists and manage system handovers
- Plan and execute plant performance and acceptance tests to confirm capacity, efficiency, and product quality against design criteria
- Support the development and delivery of operator and maintenance training to ensure operational readiness
Operations Phase:
- Take operational leadership of day-to-day process plant operations, including direct oversight of DCS-controlled systems
- Monitor plant performance, identify deviations, and lead troubleshooting of operational and process-related issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, reliability, debottlenecking, and energy optimization
- Work closely with maintenance teams to develop and refine preventive maintenance strategies, maximizing equipment availability and minimizing downtime
- Lead structured Management of Change (MOC) processes for operational modifications and technical upgrades
- Prepare and present clear operational performance reports, KPIs, and improvement recommendations to management
Requirements
- English is MANDATORY (Full working proficiency – written and spoken)
- Bahasa Indonesia (fluent or native level)
- Minimum 8 years ofexperience in the oil & gas/ energy sector, with direct exposure to LNG, LPG, orcryogenic processing facilities
- Proven hands-on leadership in commissioning and start-up, including pre-commissioning, system testing, and integrated plant start-up
- At least 5 years of direct DCS operation experience in an LNG or comparable cryogenic process environment
- Strong technical understanding of LNG processes, gas treatment, cryogenic storage, and rotating equipment
- Solid working knowledge of process safety systems and operational best practices (e.g.PTW, LOTO)
- Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure, troubleshoot complex operational issues, and transition plants into stable operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a comparable discipline
Additional Information
- Reporting to: DivisionManager
- Possible starting/ onboarding date: ASAP or latest between 01st-10th March
- Monthly basic gross salary: Up to IDR 60.000.000 (depending on work experience)
- Contract: 1,5 years (extension possible)
- Working Hours: Full-time, 6 days/ 8 hours (Sunday and public holiday off)
- Working Shift: To be negotiated. Possible model: 2 months on-site/ 1 week off
