For our client, an international EPC company, we are currently seeking a skilled professional and highly motivated Head of Engineering that has in-depth experience and strong networks in the pharma and food industry on a global scale.
About the role
The Head of Engineering is responsible for managing, controlling, and overseeing the Group´s Engineering Unit on an APAC scale. The role focuses on ensuring the unit's profitability, operational efficiency, and high-quality output
Responsibilities
Unit Management:
- Lead and manage the Engineering Unit across the Group
- Define and regularly review the Engineering portfolio
- Manage cost structures, including salaries and entertainment, within the industry budget
- Allocate resources effectively based on forecasts
- Optimize processes for maximum efficiency
- Ensure output meets the User Requirements Specification (URS) at the Unit level
- Oversee collection management for the unit’s business
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems (QMS) and implement Group policies
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures in line with Group standards and local regulations
- Coordinate with various Group management areas as needed
- Ensure legal compliance within the unit’s operations
Leadership:
- Provide functional leadership for the Engineering Unit across the Group
- Guide, motivate, and develop staff to meet unit goals and minimize employee turnover
- Set targets, monitor performance, and conduct regular reviews
- Empower employees by clearly defining tasks, assigning resources, and monitoring results
- Approve recruitment and hiring decisions for all Engineering staff, regardless of location, based on resource forecasts
- Communicate the Group's vision and mission to ensure alignment in daily operations
- Foster a positive work environment to keep employees motivated and ensure smooth operations
- Plan team qualifications based on industry forecasts and training needs
- Take disciplinary action in coordination with the relevant manager when necessary
Portfolio Management:
- Define and regularly review the Engineering product portfolio
- Keep Industry and Country teams informed about the Engineering portfolio as part of the broader industry strategy
Market Research:
- Keep Industry and Country teams informed about the Engineering portfolio as part of the broader industry strategy
Sales:
- Oversee Engineering-related sales in countries without respective Head of Country
- Make decisions on Engineering offers or Engineering components of complex projects according to established decision gates
- Engage in sales activities in countries where the company is not present
- Participate in strategic and high-risk projects as needed
Target Setting:
- Review and agree on Engineering targets set by the Head of Industry
- Provide feedback to Head of industry on Engineering targets for each country
- Monitor, review, and provide feedback on target progress
Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain long-term, positive relationships with customers and partners
- Negotiate and approve Engineering supplier/partner contracts
- Keep industry teams informed about supplier/partner agreements
- Cultivate relationships with key customers, decision-makers, and knowledge carriers
- Represent the company to the public, stakeholders, and partners to uphold a strong reputation
Project Execution:
- Participate in project execution when necessary
- Make decisions and sign off on commercial handovers if issues arise
Requirements
- Proven leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and independently
- High sense of responsibility
- Strong planning and analytical capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Willingness to travel frequently, both locally and internationally
Additional Information
- Reporting to: Head of Global Engineering
- Possible starting/ onboarding date: 1st Quarter 2026
- Monthly basic gross salary (13 months): Up to EUR 13.000,- (depending on work experience)
